 SPECIFICATION INFORMATION

Perma-Guard/W3408 water tubing, pipe and fittings are designed to meet the requirements of both AWWA C901 and C906.Manufactured with high-density polyethylene NSF tested resins in accordance with designation code PE 3408, the pipe is available black, with color stripes or a color jacket to help with easy identification.
PACKAGING OPTIONS

The pressure rated tubing/pipe products are available in coils for sizes 1" through 6" diameters. Standard 40-foot stick lengths are available in pipe diameters of 2" through 16" diameters. Please contact your  authorized distributor for more detailed information regarding packaging options.

FUSION JOINING

There are four types of heat fusion methods commonly used for joining Perma-Guard/W3408.There are also various types of specialized fusion fittings for adding tees, elbows, caps and service connections. Below is a brief description for each of the four types of fusion methods available:

 
  • Socket Fusion- consists of a variety of fittings and heat fusion tools. The heat fusion tools are designed to heat the inside surface of the coupler or fitting and the outside surface of the pipe. After a specified heating period the pipe end is then pushed into the fitting causing the two surfaces to fuse. This method is commonly used for smaller diameters of pipe.
  • Butt Fusion- is a technique where two pipe ends or the end of the pipe and a fitting is fused. This method uses special equipment that squares the two pipe ends to be joined and then heats the ends so that they can be pushed together fusing the two mating surfaces.
  • Sidewall Fusion- uses specialized cutting tools that bore holes into the side of the pipe, then uses heating devices that apply heat to the external surface of the pipe and the matching surface of the "saddle" fitting. After both surfaces are heated for a specified time they are pushed together for fusion.
  • Electro-Fusion- uses specialized fittings that incorporate an electrical coil in the fitting. The fusion is controlled using a fusion processor. The fusion processor sends an electrical charge to the fitting via leads that are attached to the fittings connectors for a specified length of time that fuses the two mating surfaces.
