The SPA200 is ideal for demanding DJ's and for most professional applications. This power amplifier features two large toroidal transformers, very short signal paths, symmetrical left and right circuitry, individual level controls for each channel and a switch to select between stereo or bridged mono operation. Dual protection circuits ensure comprehensive protection against electrical overload of both the attached loudspeakers and the amplifier. The first defense is an over-current circuit, which activates a mute relay if there is an excess of current passing through the system. Simultaneously, the anti-overheating circuit monitors temperature and can trigger a relay, which cuts output to the amplifier, output before the system can overload and become damaged. A large silent fan, located in the center of the rear panel, combined with heat sinks on both sides of the cabinet, contribute to keeping the amplifier cool. To prevent thumping upon initial startup, a 1.5 second delay is introduced when powering up the amplifier, but as a standard precaution measure, we suggest lowering the volume level before switching on the amplifier. Individual volume controls for left and right channels allow for optimum modulation. Four L.E.D.'s per channel are provided for monitoring the status of the amplifier. The SPA200 delivers 2 x 200 watts when used as a stereo amplifier. For added power, it can be switched to bridged mono and will then deliver as much as 600 watts. The source component can be connected to the amplifier through either balanced or unbalanced inputs. |
