WHEN YOU NEED TO COMMUNICATE EMERGENCY WARNINGS EASILY AND EFFECTIVELY Edwards' new EWS Series, omni-directional, early warning sirens project the same decibel level in all directions simultaneously, avoiding the distorting, "peaking-and-ebbing" effect associated with a rotating system. This 360º, omni-directional advantage means that emergency warnings are communicated more effectively for greater safety. Edwards' outdoor sirens, featuring all-weather, continuous-duty electric motors, offer customers a wide variety of early warning signaling solutions to fit virtually any application, large-scale or mid sized. The Series ranges from the single-tone, compact EWS-V1 models, rated at 107 dB, for large industries or small communities, to the single-tone EWS-V3 units featuring projectors in an 8-horn, equal length, single-row configuration, rated at 112 and 118 dB, for warning over long distances. Dual-tone models range form the EWS-V4 Series, rated at 115 dB, to the 125 dB EWS-V8-3, the largest omni-directional siren in existence. Decibel ratings for Edwards' sirens are calculated at 100 ft. (30.5m). All exposed siren components are made of zinc plated, steel construction that is powder-coated for the most durable finish available. The fan and housing are made of non-corrosive aluminum. All sirens come in a distinctive almond color. |
THE OMNI-DIRECTIONAL ADVANTAGE
| It is a common misconception to
directly compare the dB rating of a rotating siren with that of an
Omni-Directional siren. A rotating siren spends much of its on-time
facing away from any given point, resulting in a loss of decibels.
When a siren survey is done for a given area, the siren's output is
considered, and a circle is drawn on a map to estimate the area the siren
should cover. However, with a rotating beam type siren, the area is
covered only 25% of the on-time by the maximum beam output, and 75% of the
on-time by a lesser beam, presenting its maximum output to your ear only 1/4
of the time. This causes a "peaking" and "ebbing" of the sound - and a potentially dangerous problem. If a series of signals is used to warn: one steady blast for a tornado, and a warbling tone for "all clear," consider what the rotating siren's "steady" tone will sound like with its peaking and ebbing effect. Edwards' Omni-Directional sirens project the same decibel level with 360 degrees of coverage and, without the distortion that occurs with a rotating siren. |

Great versatility - whether you are supplying a large industry, small community, or filling "dead spots," the omni-directional EWS-V1 Series is the answer. It is powered by a 5 Hp motor in your choice of single or three phase power, and produces a port tone frequency of 460 cycles per second.

EWS-V2 SERIES 109 dB, Eight Horn, Equal Length, Single Row This siren combines large siren functions with cost effectiveness making it ideal for small towns or volunteer fire departments. It is powered by a 5 Hp motor in single or three phase power, and produces a port tone frequency of 460 cycles per second. EWS-V2 is shown in yellow.

EWS-V3 SERIES 112 dB, Eight Horn, Equal Length, Single Row Employing carefully designed horns to project sound over long distances, the EWS-V3 Series is Edwards newest model. Available with either a single phase or three phase 7.5 HP motor, the EWS-V3 is a single tone siren, producing 460 cycles per second, for optimal sound penetration. EWS-V3 is shown in white.

Staged horn projectors help organize sound for even distribution over a large radius. It is the perfect siren for small communities. Available in single or three phase 10 HP motor, the EWS-V4 is a single tone siren, producing 460 cycles per second.
